Hi there - I used to have a beautiful green lawn till my 10 girls ate the whole thing! I have separated my garden into 2 halves - 1 for the girls and 1 for me.  I've gravelled mine and hubby has built some raised beds for growing veg in.  These are safely away from harm! The only problem is that the girls used to free range on the soil until about 3 months ago.  Will the chicken poo that was in the soil pollute my veg and make it not safe to eat for me and the kids? Its not compost or anything - just soil without any green stuff!!

chicken manure is great for veggies although it is a little strong so don't get any on the leaves. Most people compost their pooh, but what is already on the ground will be great (and saves on buying chicken manure pellets from the garden shop  ).
