Paranoia??

Hi, I'm hoping I'm being paranoid because we lost one of our girls not long ago - do hens put the tails down if they get wet or is it only ever a sign of illness?? It's pouring it down out the one one of my ladies looks drenched so I've locked her in the cozy dry run but she's desperate to get out again!! Please tell me there's nothing to worry about with this one?!

some hens are very happy out in the rain even if they do look hunched up and miserable - mine have loads of places to go and get out of it but some insist on just standing there
. I should let yours out if thats what she wants - keeping her inside won't make her any better if she is ill at all

Icklemonkey I was the same as you very paranoid about everything. It will wear off ... slightly
We all worry about our girls but we also get to know them and realise that sometime we worry unneccesserily(sp)

It dosent sound like you have anything to worry about.Like the others have said some like the rain, some dont.....she probably dosent but is too daft to shelter
, however i would like to say well done for taking note.....you obviously know your girls very well to have noticed a change in her behaviour, and so feel confident that if one of your girls become ill again you know them well enough to spot it quickly

Thanks dizzielizzie, I appreciate that! I felt like I'd let one of them down when she fell ill and died - just don't want it to be down to me not taking note!
It's crazy how attached you can get to a few feathered cluckers!!!! x
