I have cabbage white butterflies which can teleport INTO my brassica 'cage'. I sat under my tree doing the Times killer sudoku (a Saturday lunchtime ritual), and each time I looked up, there was one INSIDE the netting. I'd have to go and dismantle a bit to let it out, then ten minutes later, the same again.
Obviously, it's not the perfect barrier, with the odd hole here and there, but they all seem to be far too small for a butterfly in full flight to get through.
I have therefore come to the conclusion that, after millions of years of having free range amongst the sprouts and kails of the world, then encountering Homo Allotmentensis with cages and netting, the humble cabbage white has responded by evolving the ability to teleport.
All testimonies in support of this groundbreaking theory, please post below. :shock:

Over the past couple of weeks I've had 2 cabbage whites in my brassica cage, like you Mick, There is the odd hole, but I didn't think they were THAT intelligent to find them.  Today I got fed up with trying to catch it, as I didn't want to disturb my cage again, and the only pesticide I had was spray ant killer, so I kept spraying it until it dropped onto the side of the netting, then squashed it with my hands.  Got the little B******
