brocolli n calabrase question

Hi everyone.

just a quick one! do i have to sow these in succsession as i av been doing or do i just sow once? read a few books but they seem to contradict one another.

PSB you just need a few plants becasue you can keep cutting bits off them.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

I sow  about every 3/4 weeks  that seams to wook for me .

As mentioned PSB (broccoli) develops lots of small spears (in spring), 3 - 4 plants will supply a family of 4, you (I) cannot pick it quick enough before it goes to seed, while Calabrese has a large central head (the ones they sell in the shops as broccoli) however once cut the plant will send up smaller spears, but these are not normally very productive and go to seed quickly. I sow one lot of PSB and a succession of Calabrese

I start all mine in pots as normal and transplant, all summer stuff is succsession grown. They are two flavours of PSB, the quicker growing summer and the early sprouting (next years spring) which you start or I start about mid july so they are in the main bed by end of august.
