Transplanting brassicas
« on: May 25, 2010, 13:49 »
This is my first year of doing brassicas properly.

I've been sowing in modules/roottrainers and planting out.

Some of mine (Igloo calui, Lagerrot and Stonehead cabbages) are already planted out, but I've got quite a few varieties of cabbage and cauli that  I sowed when indicated on the packet (April/May) but aren't supposed to be planted out until June/July.  However they are looking like they are outgrowing their modules and I'm wondering whether to transplant them early.  They mostly have four proper leaves.

Any advice v. welcome!

Lotty holder since Aug 09... I've FINALLY finished clearing it! On with the p.lanting  ....

If they look big enough and healthy enough then go for it.....before they get potbound :)

Rule and thumb I use is 4 propper leaves and they are in.

I'll go with that.  That's my weekend job sorted!
Thanks everyone.
