one of my chickens is bleeding from the top of her head how do i stop it, I think they have been fighting for some reason although they are 20weeks old and been together since day 1 thanks for reading. :(
two thing you should never worry about, yesterday and tomorrow.

if you have any wound powder use that but if not then sprinkle with cornflour. If you have any purple spray then use this to disguise the redness but if the cut is deep avoid that area. It sounds like one of them is trying to assert her authority (just normal pecking order scenario). Comb wounds always look far worse than they are.

what is purple spray / wound powder and where do we get it from always happens to us at weekends when most places are shut.

Purple spray is called just that, and it is an atiseptic spray that will disgiuse the redness - chickens go mad at the sight od red hence why wearing sandles with red nail varnish on your toes is not recommended if you don't want your toes being pecked  :lol:
Wound powder will help stem the flow of blood and help with healing. I get both of mine from a local horsey place near spalding. Always handy to have in stock - just in case. They are also available online but then you have postage to pay.

have stopped the bleeding now would you suggest keeping her seperate for a few days or just put her back in with the others.

My light sussex bantam ended up having a pecked (blooded) head and I kept her seperate untill the feathers started growing back and then reintroduced her and all was fine!
thinks her guardian angel`s gone on strike !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for all the advice and reply's. bled quite alot but stopped it good to have a vet in training on 24/7. All sorted and back in coop merrily eating a little corn.
