Yesterday I was having a chat with the chap next to me on the allotment he was saying that When he was growing  pea’s (pod’s ) that he used to dip them in paraffin  and  plant them  so that if mice came along  the smell of the paraffin would put them off and there would not eat them is this true

Yes, quite a few people with rodent problems use this method. It's a bit of a fuss but at least it guarantees a crop.

I prefer to just cover the ground with chicken wire so they cant dig through it to get to them :) Works every time :)
