poorly birds - newbie needs advice!
« on: April 22, 2010, 08:53 »
we inherited 6 birds last year, all of which have done really well all winter - 5 or 6 eggs a day, no problem. about 1 month ago production slowed to 4/5 eggs. 2 weeks ago one bird started having a sticky discharge - sloppy poo. She is now bleeding from the vent, (but it's not in the poo) and 2 others are going down the same route. We have seperated them from the others.

I'm thinking coccidosis, but all the things I read suggest blood in poo?

She is still eating, but obviously no unwell.

any help? or should it be straight to the vets?

many thanks

Mike

get her to a vets asap, she could have had an egg break inside her or if it is coccidiosis then she and the others will need treating with something like coxoid.
Staffies are softer than you think.
