Hi all

We have a wyandotte bantam and a partridge pekin bantam (among others :-) - the wyandotte Coco has been laying for a while, and the pekin (Mavis) is younger so has only just started looking like she'd start laying (comb-wise) soon.  I caught her snuggling down in one of the bushes today & rearranging her surroundings, then found an egg there later ... but the henhouse was at the time inaccessible as being cleaned, so I'm not sure if it was the wyandotte who did the deed...  it looked pretty similar to Coco's eggs.

Anyway, not that it particularly matters, i've been trying to find out what colour eggs the pekin is likely to lay, but can't find it anywhere!  The ones I've got are pale beige/creamy colour.

Can anyone tell me please?!

PS  Oh, and we have a light Sussex who looks like she's ancient, very mature looking, who still hasn't started laying (got her late last summer at about 16 weeks, at the most)... had to dispatch her sister as she was ill/wrong in a lot of ways, without going into any details, and my husband has given this one till September to start laying .... is she likely to start now if she hasn't started yet?

I re-homed an Amberlink who will be 3 on 7th September, never laid and egg, she was quite tiny, but had a huge comb but never crowed either! I wanted her to have a happy retirement elsewhere as the others didn't like her much.  I recently heard that she started laying a month or so ago!!!
