Hi I have some red cabbage that are currently in a cold greenhouse.  My question is are brassicas fairly frost resistant?  Would I need to cloche them if there were a threat of a harsh frost?

Seedlings can fall to hard frost while older plants can take some frost. If you need to plant them out, keep an eye on your forecasts and if necessary, throw some fleece over them for the night. You'll get a sound sleep as well as safe cabbages.

Never used fleece before.  Can anyone recommend a reasonable place to buy?

As it happens, all my veg rows are the same length (pure fluke actually  ) so I can throw any fleece over anything that I feel is at risk. I have 2 weights of fleece, a light  for brassicas, lettuce, etc, and a heavy for toms, peppers, etc. I also keep brick pavers around the garden for a while to weight down corners and sides so winds don't blow them open. Rocks are just as handy. When you're done for the night with the fleece, fold them up and you'll get years of use out of them.

Ours have been out for 10 days they are still ok, no fleece just net for bugs
