Last year I did no good atall with cauli and cabbage with a spring planting.
   Thought I'd try my hand at autumn planted cabbage and all was looking fine after the really cold winter, until just recently. They had started looking a bit loose but today I noticed they are going to seed . Why would they do this? Especially when the small row of donor cabbage plants from an excellent brassica growing neighbour are doing really well.
   I've asked his secret and he proffesses to have none

plenty time to sow some more and try again,go for some F1 HYBRIDS.

As much as I could Yorkie, did the same with the donor plants as I did with my own.
   More than likely they were a different varierty than my offenham special (or not so special ) but I can't understand it.
   I'm not growing them again, have gone for filderkraut and sherwood this year and if I have no success then brassicas are out in future , not sure if they are F1's BlackBob but I will have alook, Does it make a difference?
