My overwintered broad beans are producing masses of flowers. Can anyone tell me if they're self-pollinating, please? I'm concerned about insects getting in to pollinate because the bed is netted against pigeons on top and there's chicken wire all round!!!

you could always give them a shake to help things along

The thing is that to a certain extent BBs are self pollinating like peas although you will get a better crop if bees can get at them.

As long as you haven't use very fine mesh they should be able to get in

I've made gaps round the edge now and they can get through the lower chicken wire so all I need now are some bees!
Seen a few bumbles that come for the fruit blossom and spring flowers so keeping fingers crossed!
