planting cherry tree
« on: April 12, 2010, 15:17 »
I was about to order a dwarf cherry tree (Sunburst) and the company said they'll send it out on Autumn, because it's too late to plant it now.

Are they being over-cautious, in which case I'll see if anywhere else has any and I'll plant it now, or will that damage the tree?

I would think you would still get away with it still, as long as you gave it lots of water and a good manure on planting.
Thanks
Kris

We planted our last memorial tree on Easter Sunday for the planting season.

Pot grown can be planted any time, but beware of bare root trees that have just been stuck in a pot for sale, and those that have become potbound.
I demand the right to buy seed of varieties that are not "distinct, uniform and stable".
