now we are coming into summertime, what time should you put your chooks to bed as it's still daylight. i have just aquired some black rock chickens (10 weeks  old) and i'm as much in the dark (no pun intended) as the Chickens. any info would be very welcome.thanks

Mine take themselves off to bed, I just close their pop hole after they have gone. Its been by about 8pm at the moment, but will undoubtedly get later as the evenings lengthen.

Hi, I have Black Rocks, they usually wander up to their coop about 8pm and hop in about 8.15pm.  In the height of Summer the latest they go in is around 10pm.  They usually let you know when they want to go, they look to roost if you leave them too long!

thanks. i left it until about 7.30 then got a bit worried that they wouldn't go back in, just stay under the coop, so i gave them a little helping hand up the ramp into the house. i now know after your replies that i should have left them to there own devices. i'll leave them tomorrow and see what happens.
