It was suggested to me that I put weed-killer down in August / September on the half of my plot that I'm not yet using (hope to be using the full plot next spring). I am a little worried about putting weed-killer down on the soil in case it ruins the ground for next year.

Has anyone got any advice on what weed-killer I could use (if any), that would not damage the soil for next spring. (Ground is quite heavily overgrown with grass and weeds and brambles)

Based on your signature, Amcide is about the only choice.  Sodium Chlorate used to be considered organic but I don't know if that is still the case or not.

Thanks WG - if we forget about being good and organic for a moment :oops:  - what weed-killer would work best do you think?

Both named will work superbly.  Round-up will work superbly non-organically & cheaper.   All must be applied to actively growing weeds.

I've used round up and it has done an excellent job of clearing the weeds only thing it hasn't killed is the mares tail.
