I've sown some carrots in a bath (to hopefully protect from carrot fly) which had germinated, but now they keep disappearing! Last year i used no protection at all (for the carrots lol) and had excellent results - was my first year. I thought carrot fly did damage to the roots!  Any ideas why??

Slugs?  I had a whole 12x4' bed vanish due to the little barstewards - so have slug pelleted the lot and resown.  I figure there's no point having organic stumps ;-)

Mice/rats/rabbits/squirrels.

You may need to net them.

Thanks DD, there's no sign on slugs at all so i'll have to net them.

I have mine is a old water loft tank thingy and netted.. they were sown 5 days ago and this morning I see they have germinated.. w00t after my 2 full rows nothing germinated

Hmm iamnew...  when you aren't new you will be stuck with that user name
