Brassica's in buckets

Ive sowen some cabbage,sprouts and more have germinated than i can use in my raised bed,is it possible i could grow these in big buckets or not  :D

Ive grown brussels in a big china sink, and ive grown caulis in plastic troughs, so i dont see why not.

The only problem with brassicas is they need a lot of room, so not many to the pot!

If i could just use 1 to a bucket i wouldnt mind really as long as i knew they would grow so im not wasting my time :D

Might have room for 10 ;) dont think ill be growing that many,being my first year 1 decent plant would be nice :lol:

Don't forget they like the growing medium very, very firm - take care not to split the pots when tramping it down!

Aha thanks for that hamstergbert so you need to compress the compost very firm then when i plant them :)

Last year I grew mini cabbages 4 to a large tub and they were delicious. Easy to keep the butterflies off as well. I just bunged a stick in the middle of the tub and draped some netting over. This year I'm attempting sprouts using the same method. As someone said, they need a firm growing medium so best to use a loam-based compost.
