Wolf-Garten Soil Miller
« on: March 16, 2010, 21:40 »
Hi, I had my allotment rotavated recently, but it's now left with huge clods of turf everywhere. I need to break these down but it's gonna be a long hard slog!

I've seen ads for the Wolf-Garten soil miller which looks perfect for the job.

Apparently the 'star-shaped tines' breaks up even the toughest clods of earth into a fine tilth.

I wanted to ask if anybody's used one before, and if it's worth investing in one?

Ta!

I do use mine occasionally but usually I just use a rake several times and just knock down any persistent lumps. Can you borrow one for a few days somewhere just to try it out ??

That's a really good idea actually.

I wonder if there's a place on this forum where I could post a message asking if anybody in the allotment site where I am has one that I could borrow for a while......?

Hi these are brilliant when the soil has been worked, but as you still have clumps of turf it would just clog up, well worth buying when you have it sorted though

A kite group that come to the park have this sort of thing on there site but they do like to get to know each other a bit first.  I guess if your all local it could work out.  Tools are not the easiest things to post in the world.
Thanks
Kris
