today at lunchtime at work i tried to show off by taking in 2 hard bolied blue eggs which i confidently peeled and then much to my horror one of the yolks was sooo pale it was cream coloured - both the eggs are from new legbars that i got at the weekend - the other yolk was gorgeous. of course i saved face and ate it but to be honest i didnt really fancy it! i suppose that will teach me but has anyone got any ideas what may have caused it (i dont think it was lack of greens as it really was so wierldy pale, lucyloux

I think the first eggs that your girl lays will be pale - my girls were but then they yellow up just beautifully, to the colour of sunshine

I bought a couple of POL White Stars and the first week or so the yolks were cream coloured
A couple of weeks later they were fine.

Might have been what the breeder has been feeding them, as I've not noticed eggs hatched by myself being that pale.

One of my girls lays very pale eggs she has plenty of greens so i dont know the reason.
she is a cuckoo maran.
