Thanks Jayg.sorry for the delay in answering the topic, ive been on holiday,i found the article about gypsum really great answered all my questions.I have a landshare in north wales and have clay about a foot down.Over the winter ive put about fifty foot of french drains in ,its helped but i still have waterlogging problems,an old gardener years ago told me to just throw old plasterboard on the soil, said it broke the clay up a treat?

Gypsum what you doing skimming it :) :) :)

If you have problems with clay like i do, sharp sand, growmore and a little muck you will soon have nice soil.

Ps is gypsum not a hazard as it is now banned from landfill sites and skips?

Gypsum is banned from domestic landfills because the bacteria in the waste convert it to the highly toxic and smelly gas Hydrogen Sulphide. it won't do you any harm in the garden, especially if you are using clean stuff that hasn't had paint on it.

Hey dont knock Hydrogen Sulphide. Its an anti-greenhouse gas. It absorbs  incoming energy from the sun way up in the stratosphere, above the weather, and reflects it back out, cooling the planet.
