« on: May 24, 2007, 11:11 »
my spuds are in from mid march, put them in deep and did all the usual aftercare, they are about 6-8 obove the ridge, but i have noticed that a few of the leaves have a tint of brown on them and are slightly curling.
i have been watering them as it is dry here at the minute.

any ideas??

You been watering in full sun ? could be leaf scorching.

RR could well be right.  But any chance that you've had the slightest touch of frost recently?

I reckon that's it then CB.  A real frost will blacken them but the merest hint will give the symptoms you described so eloquently.  They will recover.

Presumably you've earthed them up as high as practicable?

As for posting photos, there is a sticky thread in Welcome to the Forums.

You've amended your original post!!!!

I'm afraid the piccie is a bit too small for my ageing eye to make out much other than a brown blob.

My first guess would be a slight frosting - but the other possibliity would be magnesium defficiency. This stops the plant utilising nitrogen. The cure for this will do no harm even if the problem is frost.

Dissolve epsom salts (get them cheap from the chemist) at half an ounce per litre of water (that's mixed metric / imperial!) and spray the leaves.  Same problem often happens with tomatoes and the cure is the same.

Just spray until the leaves are wet. Never use a feed sprayer for weedkiller and vice versa. I use a felt tip to mark mine after one mistake some years back
