Klevdon Wonder / little Marvel
« on: February 07, 2010, 14:19 »
Hi

I'm growing in containers  & on seeing a post for Half Pint Pea (T&M) out of stock, I was wondering if,

Either Klevdon Wonder OR Little Marvel peas would be suitable for container growing ?

In limited space, would it be worthwhile ?

Any ides on broad beans in containers ?

The Sutton ?

Many thanks in advance,
Spottymint.  :)

I grew KW in pots last year, up bamboo wigwams and they were very successful - we are growing even more this year.  They were so tasty not many of them reached the pot!!  ::)

In my experience the biggest problem with container growing is that they need much more watering that plants in open ground do.  As long as you are able to provide them with enough moisture then I would think they would be fine.

Little Marvel would be perfect for container growing as they don't get as large as Kelvadon. They'd need a bit of staking but a few small branches tucked into the soil will do the trick. And because they're in a pot with frequent watering, you could plant them more thickly. Little Marvels are my very favourite for taste though not huge yielders.

Hi

Thanks for that Trillium, now do I get little marvel instead ?
I don't have room for 300 seeds DD, but great for anyone who has the room. :)
