found on the floor of coop this morning...

Is it squidgy and rubbery??
Looks like a shell less egg to me, nothing to worry about. Just make sure your girls have plenty of grit & oystershells available.

Its whats called a 'lash' - there are various threads on here talking about them, so if you search 'lash' you may find more information.

Yes I had a closer look later on once my retching had stopped
an it looks like a yolk in there.... yuk
would it be a 1st egg as I have the light sussex that
has not laid yet... they all look ok today...bless poor little chicks'

That must have been a rude shock finding that lash this morning! How many girls have you got? Its good to hear you are getting some eggs from some of them but hopefully the lash will be a one off.

I am getting a bit worried now
since my last post I have found 2 more
soft shell less eggs in the coop' hardly an egg
just a messy goo with signs of a yolk'
I think it's my leghorn who has laid about
4 eggs so far' what can I do ?
is she ill ? Help again pls.

Things seem to have settled back to normal
phew! 2 perfect eggs yesterday and this morning..
still waiting for harriette my light sussex to perform'
30 weeks old and not a sausage ! she is a huge girl.
