Ebay polytunnels
« on: February 04, 2010, 21:25 »
Hi

I am thinking of getting a poly tunnel of ebay the allotment we have is surrounded by houses can anyone tell me their expeiences of polytunnels off ebay ? the sort i am interested in are the one that are about £60 (3.5 mtr by 2 mtr) ? I would like to get one but I am worried that it will not cope with bad weather (wind) ? I have read a few articles where people concrete wooden poles then tie wrap the polytunnel to this , if anyone has any experience of these please share it with me ? also is it worth putting it up only during the summer ?

Thanks

if you look through my posts i had one, it was in a sheltered spot in the garden, all fixed down to a wooden frame.

i battened down the bottom of the tunnel cover to the frame and it all looed and seamed great.

with-in the same year it was scrap, the cover fell to bits it was sold as uv protected and was far from the cheapest on there.

all that was left of the cover by the time the year was out was the string n the cover all the plastic had broke down.

so just be warey what u buy, and look into it well

thanks

I too was thinking of buying one of the e-bay pollytunnels to extend my chilli range but after reading this post I think I'll forget it.
I'll work with the greenhouses I've got for this year and save up for a sturdy tunnel for next year
I'm banned for being obnoxious (not pompous as you might have thought)
