(B4 I start - plz accept apologies if posted on incorrect board)
OH wants to install an automatic opener for our girlies B4 we go on hols in May (Son being very fond of his bed & unlikely to get up early enough)
Question is this - what would be the best power supply?  A neighbour has given him a couple of solar panels that he would like to use if possible but he's unsure if a HD leisure battery (trickle fed from solar panels) would be suitable or not.

I thought that they operated on normal A4 batteries 
Please could you not use text speak (we are not charged by the length of a post unlike mobile phones - all are free) as some of us are elderly and prefer to read words, thanks

If you have solar panels then you might as well get rechargeable battery and then you can power lights etc. No need for heavy duty etc. Just a cheap car battery will do fine. Check with the supplier that it can/does use 12V and check that the solar panels are also 12V (or all are 6) before buying anything. Please let us know how you get on.

we just use AA batteries, that last on average 2 years
