Tom shelter.

Not sure if this belongs here or design & construction...

I'm still nowhere near having things ready to build a greenhouse this year.  :( I've got a few sheets of corrugated  plastic left from the chicken run.. Is it worth knocking up a roofed shelter thing to try and protect my toms from blight or am i wasting my time? I was thinking it might keep the rain off and reduce the risk.

People do that on our site - not sure how well it works. I must admit I think if it's a blighty year there's not a lot you can do, other than keep the plants spaced out well and keep a sharp eye on them. You could also try bordeaux mixture or dithane.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

It's worth trying anything that will tip the odds in your favour. If the shelter keeps the prevailing winds out that will help, as will keeping the foliage as dry as possible. The rest is down to luck!
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

Keep an eye out for people having windows replaced - the windows taken out can sometimes be scrounged from the contractors and used for construction of semi-permanent shelters in the kitchen garden, patio or plot.  (If you get one complete with frame it may well turn out to be ideal for use as a coldframe glass - there's really posh for you).

Costs nothing to ask.

We just had a load of windows replaced and I'd have paid you to take them away, would have saved us a lot of money on skips :)
