[death of rats]

My Silkie started sitting on 4 eggs about a fortnight ago, now there are 11 eggs.
I thought that they sat once a clutch was completed.
Can anyone explain this behaviour? It soes not seem normal to me.

have you seperated her from the other hens? if not the chances are that they are laying in the same spot.

That is why people have silkies because they are very very very good at being broody.
