On saturday i was visiting family and bought a packet of peas seeds as i forgot to put them on my order from Dobies.I noticed yesterday that the best before date is 12/09 will thye still be ok or shall i just buy a new packet?

They will be fine  :happy:, maybe germination will be down by the odd pea or two but so many other things will affect them, it isnt worth worrying about.   There are very few things that go off quickly - parsnip is the main one where you have to buy new seeds each year. 

But, unless you got them at sale price, I wouldn't buy seeds from there again.  They shouldn't be selling you out of date seed!  V. naughty!

Ahhh...but they are not out of date untill the end of the year madcat .......annoying just the same!!

Try germinating a few on wet cotton wool/blotting paper - will tell you if they are viable.

I start all my peas beans sweetcorn etc off on wetted kitchen paper.
You get a much more positive germination that way, and no gaps in the row.

Next year you could save some of your own peas to use as seed then they'll be as fresh as possible!
