Just meandering down the long road back to the topic *cough*

Bom, though DEFRA deem it illeagle to feed scrpas which have been prepared in a kitchen to your chooks, I think as long as you don't sell your eggs or meat to anyone DEFRA won't come knocking your door down (NOT that I'm telling you to go ahead and break the law, you understand )

If you wanted to sell your eggs or meat, then I would be very hesitant about feeding scraps, just in case DEFRA wanted to see evidence of exactly what you are feeding

I dont plan on selling any eggs, just giving them away to friends and family, I know we will have lots of takers as they all live fairly close.

I cant wait to get them now, we are moving house in a week or so, then straight to the garden to get everything ready for them

It was in the paper/on the telly?(can't find a link, sorry) a couple of days ago that a lady was selling a few dozen eggs at a time and one of her customers (some people are soooo nice ) reported her to defra. She had less than 50 hens but had to have 2 full inspections before they said she could sell them, and apparantly they spent more time inspecting her kitchen for hygiene than the chickens run and shed

   Harrumph .. eurocrats .. even in the henhouse ! Of course, if foodstuff is prepared other than the kitchen, OR prepared specifically for the chooks .. but YOU get THEIR scraps (ie the bits they wont be eating) .. doesn't that go round it ??  Or is it also illegal to feed yourself or your family on the bits the chookies aren't having

I only buy sweetcorn for the chickens as I hate the stuff and I never got to try my home grown tomatoes as Little Red nicked them of the plants, the bananas were peeled outside so I'm OK then   Why do we not have a face smiley with a halo?  


Do any of you villains want me to bake you a cake with a file inside?  

Not if you've baked/prepared it in your kitchen HE HEE (oh no thats only for chucks isn't it! )

What a load of.......yes well!!!

Anyway, Animal Welfare DEFRA registered guy eats my eggs!!! 

He knows exactly what they are fed too!!  Inc all the scraps the dog doesn't get hold of!

Plus the OH is a magistrate!! 

The law is an ass!!
