Seed From Squash

Hi every one
Had a great year with the butternut squash,have a dozen in the shed sitting on a shelf.Question from the wife,when cooking them we take out the seed ,can they be kept for next year and planted out? :unsure:just finished a bowl of soup with crusty bread it was very nice. :happy:

If you grew them near other squash, courgettes or pumpkins they may have cross polinated and not grow true.

Also if they were F1 seed, you could be in for a disappointment.
