Supplement with healthy "treats"
« on: November 02, 2009, 22:50 »
Stay away from citrus and  from potato peels. Give garlic with rice as a natural wormer. Watch apples for layers I was advised however I forget the reason. Get a suet holder or make one  put cabbage in it watch them peck at it ,keeps them busy. Plain yogurt good for digestion a couple times a week. Watch too much fruit stools will be too. loose.Pumpkins are good natural wormer so do not let those go to waste.

typo should be" I "  Layers should not be given too much apples.A suet holde ris like a wire cage that a block of food/nutriution is in a solid form thefor   the wild birds eat it in winter as it has fat and vitamins and things to help them get thru wintertime. You can make or purhase a holder and fill it with good healthy treats for the chooks!

I am sorry but do you have any facts to backup your "natural wormers"? Does it help gape worm as well?

I can not understand why a worm in a chicken will not like pumpkin.

.........
There is no proof on the web page you supplied.
I could call my self  a Herbalists and publish an article in a magazine saying that my name is chickenlinken and the sky is going to fall down.  Would you believe me?

A quote from the webpage "I love the fact that without the use of harsh chemicals there is no need to waste eggs or to be concerned about tainted meat."
With Flubenvet you do not have to "waste" eggs.  Flubenvet is a proven killer of worms. That is all worms even gape worm.

The web page also mentions that you should mark the eggs when you have given garlic to your chickens as it may taint your baking.  What complete and utter C*@p (rubbish).   I bet that the person believes that if you feed your chickens fish the eggs will taste of fishy and NO THEY DO NOT.

I am about to dismount from my high horse, but until the steps arrive I would like to say that I can not stand the spreading of unproven old wives tales.  Why let your animals suffer when there is a perfectly good product that is no risk to you, the bird or the environment?  Oh the steps are here.

I worm regulary with flubenvet, but still use garlic, ACV, spice and limestone powder....i said it looked interesting, not that it was fact! a lot of chicken keepers on here have enough experiance to know they have to worm regulary with something other than pumpkin seeds, BUT giving certain foods can help and do help. So maybe you do need to come down off your high horse, and take a deep breath , then you may be calm long enough to see that i wasnt trying to spread unproven wives tales, but simply offering a link to something you asked for more info on!
Careful not to fall flat on your face when you get down off that horse eh?
