Another one who enjoys leek dibbing (well, I don't get out much).  Technique as described above - 1.5 inch diameter hole (old spade handle my dad recycled into a dibber some time in the sixties) and at least six inches deep, top and tail, drop in and water.  However in the last couple of weeks been without distrubing them carefully threading 'em through empty bogroll and other cardboard tubes and a cursory earth up outside of the tubes just to keep 'em in place.

Got odds and end of them dibbed out all over the place in little spare corners, rather than waste those that wouldn't fit in the main area.

Got some very old miracle gro from a split packet that mother in law had from years ago and had forgotten about - anyone tried it on leeks?  I can't imagine it would cause a problem but thought I might as well ask in case someone else has a cautionary tale or two.  ("Ooh, arr, oi gave moi leeks miracle gro and afore ye could say 'boi gum' they was growin so big they come inter the house, an was loafin on the settee, watchin' vids and phonin' out for pizzas and the loik.  Aaar, for leeks, that there miracle gro be the draft Tetleys of ole Beelzebub, it be..." and similar rustic rumblings).

I have a converted spade handle as well ... mine has a six inch depth mark on it ...  which I start ignoring around the fourth hole when I zone out and dib the other 296 :D
