manure run
« on: October 12, 2009, 19:37 »
We have a manure run this weekend at the site (we all muck in  and share it out). not sure wot to do?

1: spread it about and leave it till spring.

2: spread it about and then dig it in.

3: leave it in the bags till spring then spread it and dig in.

All good stuff, really, really well rotted, no bad stuff in it, just didnt want to loose any goodness over the winter.

thanks jimmy

if it really is well rotted, I would wait til early spring. Then the frosts will have broken up the soil and killed off some of the pests before you spread your muck over it.  Also, digging in the muck will loosen up the soil before you plant.

But it must be well rotted manure or your germinating seeds won't survive!
There's more comfrey here than you can shake a stick at!
