Hi, I have 8 eight week old pekin chicks and have two questions, I hope you don't mind me asking? Firstly, they are still with mum, but yesterday and today she has tried going into the bigger girls coop, but comes back out when they follow her. Should we separate them now?
Also, who do you think are boys and girls?? We keep guessing, its so exciting! We think 3 boys, 5 girls? I apologise the pics might not be the easiest to tell from!

It's a nightmare trying to tell cock from hen at that age
At a guess I'd say 4 boys the ones who have redder combs.

As for separating I usually leave all that to Mum she decides when she's had enough of them and if they are integrated with your other birds then there is no need to imo

If you want them separate I think I'd leave them together a bit yet, they still look tiny

Thank you for the reply Vember.  Well, mum did go into the coop this eve, and they went into their little coop without her...shall I leave them like they are, or move her back with them? It was quite cold last nite 
I have found the whole experience so much fun, she has been an amazing mum so far and it was her first time! I agree with you, it is a nightmare, but fun too!

If they've gone there separate ways then leave them to it, Mum's know best and in my opinion there is no better Mum than a Light Sussex
She'll be looking after babies for ever if she's anything like my two

Thats what I've been scared of! We really thought hard about letting her have eggs as she spent practically the whole summer broody, and she did towards the end of last year too! They're all pekins, yet she's the only one who ever goes broody! Very frustrating  it happened so frequently you could practically time it!!

Sounds right roughly every 3 weeks after they start re laying here
