That was "Irresistable". I'll try & locate the thread.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

'bred for supermarket but not sturdy enough for transport.'

I think that was Marshmello from Marshall's seeds.  Their catalogue states 'Fortunately for us Marshmello is not happy sitting on a supermarket shelf for a week...'

I have grown them before, and have some on order for a new bed, but I have never done a comparative tasting.

Cheers,

Gillie

Sorry Gillie, it was Irresistable, I started the original topic on them, the one I now can't find!

With high levels of sugar and vitamin C, Strawberry Irresistible is simply the sweetest strawberry you'll ever grow. It was originally bred for the supermarket trade but the fruit was found to be too tender to withstand transportation. A truly exceptional variety for home gardener use only. Fruits stand well and grow well in the garden or in containers.

It only goes to show that Supermarkets reject a lot of varieties...

... or the catalogue writers like the story!

Cheers,

Gillie

It also says this:

Propagation prohibited. For home gardener use only. Further propagation of Strawberry Irresistible is forbidden without a license from Meiosis

So I'll have to cut my runners off & thow them away.

Into small holes in another part of the plot.
