6 or 7 of my hens are POL but is it too late in the year for them to lay now??

i have white star, blue belle, rhode rock, grey maran and the two araucanas are 26 weeks but they've had a bit of disruption of late.

would be nice to have an egg or two of my own before the months and months to come before spring

hi! sorry i cant help with your question but i am eagerly awaiting the responses as i would like to know the answer too! (2 eggs every other day off 6 POLs!atm!)

ooh, how long you had your girlies? from chicks or bought pol?? i've got a mixture which is probably a lot to do with the settling before egg laying.

i thought the rhode rock would have laid??

ive had them as POL for 2 months without so much as a sniff of an egg from 4 out of 6 of them! 2 of the 4 that arent laying have had red faes and combs for ages and squat down when i approah them but still no eggs- evertime we go shopping my OH says something like 'mmm i thought we were never going to buy shop eggs again' (he took ages to agree to get the hens in thefirst plce!

When did they start squatting? mine started laying about 10 days after they started doing that.

my 6 bay light sussex an isa browns are all now laying thing is i cant remember just how old they are  the eggs are tiny but i am hoping they get bigger an one of them loves laying double yolkers

it seems like ages that mine have been squatting but i spose its only actually about 10 -14 days. (one of them is an araucana bantam who recently featured in my 'how old is she? post) the other 3 not laying are 2 sussex (i think approx 27 weeks)and a younger araucana - who i think wasnt pol when i got her.

araucanas 25 weeks and the rest all a bit young approx 20weeks
