Watering through fleece
« on: May 03, 2007, 21:49 »
Hi folks

I decided to cover my rows of parsnips and carrots with fleece simply to keep the ground moist in the hot and drying wind weather. However, I am having some difficulty watering, the water tends to run off the fleece or puddle on the top.  I did put a few drops of washing up liquid in the water as a wetting agent and this helped a bit.

Any ideas or experiences?

regards

Remove fleece if you are providing a deluge by hose or watering can.  Rain - remember that stuff - will get through.

Yeah it does tend to run off I water mine without a rose and most seems to go through ok but you do get a certain amount of run off or puddling.

Hi All

Thanks for your shared experiences with watering through fleece. I shall remove the fleece before watering as susggested.  It certainly helps retain the moisture and my parsnips are germinating nicely.  Rain - I can just about remember what that is!!

Thanks
