Chutney Newby - YAAAAAY
« on: September 21, 2009, 12:50 »
Thought I would share this with you guys.  This year was our first year of growing anything!  Tomatos were at the top of must grow list.  They flurrished - but did not go red - help what do I do?  I referred to John's Frugal living book (Excellent for those who have not read it) and found Val's Green Tomato Chutney Recipie.

So we went from this: http://s678.photobucket.com/albums/vv150/burtap/?action=view&current=Greentoms.jpg&newest=1

To this: http://s678.photobucket.com/albums/vv150/burtap/?action=view&current=Chutneyjars.jpg&newest=1

Success - and I really enjoyed making it- bonus.  I reckon Christmas is now all sorted!  :D

Thanks - they were fun to knock up on the computer, really easy too.  Just made some apple labels in different colours.  it helps to fill quiet times at work!

And I thought I had a lot of green tomatoes! Your efforts look fab, and I like the labels too - did you use a label-making programme? I can never get mine to line up properly on the sticky label sheets

Sal

PS your chicken house looks fab too!

I print in draft first on an A4 sheet of plain paper and see if it matches up with the labels, saves wasting them.
