im so glad you have got it sorted :D personally , if you can afford it, i would think a cube would be ideal for you. its raised, so you could clean it sitting down if your having a bad day and finding it difficult to bend, or move freely, and because its plastic it will be soo easy to keep clean. i think it would be perfect for you. It also comes in soo many pretty coulours  ;). hope your girls are happier now they are more comftable xx

Hmmm, I've just spoken with the people at Omlet, and their biggest cube is  1m20 wide, 80cm deep and the house itself without the wheels/frame is 60cm.
Would that be roomy enough for 6 hens? (3 BlackRock, 1 Bluebell and 2 Sussex White)?
The nest box allows 2 hens to lay, and the perches are now plastic, not wood.
Anyone know?

thanks
Valerie

The cube is supposed to be big enough for up to 10 hens, I think the cube and the eglu's (would make great broody houses) look brilliant and am planning on saving up for some.
Staffies are softer than you think.

I've ordered the big cube without the run and it will be here next Friday, flat packed, so there's a day gone constructing it

I've now opened up Cluckingham Palace and put in a cardboard box as a nesting box.  One egg laid already.  They are all going in and kicking up one heck of a ruckus.  They have got a lot to say!!! I don't know if they like the changes or not ::)

With the Omlet cube, you can't put food in it, so I'm going to have to find some sort of shelter so it doesn't get wet if (when) it rains.  Food is usually hung from the top of the wire run that comes with the cube.  I suppose I could put the food in the big chicken house, which will be taken up each night and put in a big metal bin.

Ho hum

I must get finished installing them.

You can get a gravity feeder with a "hat" on to stop the food getting wet.
