Potato Blight
« on: May 03, 2007, 18:14 »
Neighbours potatoes have been hit by blight, I´ve a touch of it on my spuds, pulling off the leaves and binning them as I notice it.  Any other suggestions?  Should I lift the whole plant or wait and see if it gets worse?
Pamela (in a VERY WET east of Sevilla, forgotten what the sun looks like :( )

I looked at that site just after I wrote my message, it is very helpfull.  Looks like my spuds are a bit sick.  I was pulling off the infected leaves and putting them in a bin bag ready to take to the dump.  It is interesting to read that blight can spread to tomatoes, cos the neighbours tomatoes that are by the potatoes are dying too, will have to try to explain to them in my very best Spanish :) Our frioend tried to tell them they had blight but they just did not understand (or want to) they tend to think they are correct all the time when it comes to veg growing.... I did tell them my pal was a champion veg grower when he lived in Wales, he held the record for a giant onion and a few other veggies I think. Anyway, my blighted spuds will be coming out tomorrow without fail.
Thanks for the trouble to find the link Aunt Sally,
Pamela
(who has had a very good potato crop so far dispite wet weather and a touch of blight)
