Been thinking about getting a couple of ducks recently, I have three chickens and a largish garden, well by todays standards. Any way, yesterday we popped into the local Courtyard centre and what did they have but a couple of call ducks! In a moment of weekness I bought two! A male and female. I have temporarily put them in the chicken run. The trouble is, the chickens seem to be scared of them! Giving them a very wide birth, and not wanting to come out of their boxes this morning! I had to tempt them out with mealworms. The other thing was that the ducks spent all night out in the run in the water. They wouldnt go into the closed bit, not the chicken box, but the bit underneath so that we could shut them away. I slept with the window open all night and one ear cocked in case I heard anything. The man in the centre said not to bother getting a seperate house because the ducks wouldn't use it anyway! I dont want the chickens to have to share there house if its going to upset them, any advice please.....I know I should have been more prepared but thats me......
