[Rubellite]

My chicks are coming up to 6 weeks now and they are in the ark and sleeping in the straw in the nest boxes.  I have a raised ladder type perch to sit in the ark in front of the boxes, but at what age do they start to perch?

Hi Rubellite, some people say you shouldn't let them perch too early as it can deform the breastbone, but others say it really doesn't do any damage.

Sometimes I put some really low peches in with our little ones from about 2 weeks.  they are old wooden curtain poles.  The chicks love jumping on and off of them, sometimes sleeping on them, but at other times just playing on them.

Thanks Grannie. I'll put the perch in place, they still have the option of sleeping in the nest box anyway.
