Possible new chook house
« on: August 07, 2009, 12:30 »
Ive been looking round for a new chicken coup for my girls, they have the plastic wendy house at the mo but it doesnt have any flooring, its on the patio at the mo so once the cold weather comes i need to make sure they are nice and cosy so i ve been looking round and really fancy turning this into there new home, wot do you reckon, only thing i can see that would need doing is drilling in some air holes, putting in a perch and some nest boxes wouldnt be a problem, i think its got great potential    nickyx

Hi Nicky, I think it might be only single walled, whereas your house and the omlett eglus and cubes are all twin walled to help keep cool in summer and warm in winter. joyxx
Staffies are softer than you think.

ive got one of these to store jamies beach wheelchair in... i think its the same one that someone i know uses for ducks cos they dont need to perch....not sure how it would work for chickens. how are you with a saw and hammer-could you make one your self? i had never done anything before and ive made a basic one :D

also...(sorry) would your house be ok if you either put a thick sawdust bed in the botton, or raised it off the floor maybe?

could you not raise yours off the ground like lizzie said by placing  a sheet of exterior ply on some breeze blocks then fixing your house onto the ply?

They are Ideal for a couple of ducks and Goslings up to a certain age  ;)  If the lid lifts though and you get any wind like we do then big stones on the lid are a must :)

Go on Nicky expand into the duck world, you'll not regret it Promise :D
