Sweetcorn problem?

My sweetcorn seem to have come to a standstill - and there's some odd rust coloured stems - anyone have any ideas? (Photo attached)

Just wondering if they're a bit pot-bound, Mike.

They do have a large root system.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Possibly so - thinking on it I did grow some last year in similar pots - but that was a different variety - this year's variety is "sundance"

Even though they're an earlier maturing variety doesn't mean that the root system is smaller. The plant definitely looks stunted. I wouldn't expect much if anything out of that plant.
