ducklings eating shavings
« on: August 06, 2009, 21:19 »
bob and violet are now 2 weeks old and getting to big for their curver box so, today i have moved them into the large plastic brooder and onto newspaper and shavings as the jeye clothes were getting really messy quickly but.....they are eating the shavings?? should i remove the shavings? or will they learn its not food before they bung themselves up? :(

Mine have always learnt before they did themselves any harm.
Be like a duck. Calm on the surface but always paddling like the dickens underneath.

I make sure mine have grit, maybe that's why no problems but I think by that age they usually manage to pass what they eat and learn that it really isn't that satisfying! If all else fails there is always prunes!
