Hi all,

My Pak Choi is only 3-4 inches high and this week it went to seed. Seems a bit early to me or have I done something wrong??

Seems a common event.
As in not really heard of anyone having success.
Mine did the same last year, 100% to seed very quick.

Looked up reasons and found the following:

Pak Choi are tropical, but can handle the temperatures here.
We tend to sow in summer: long days short nights, hopefully warmish.
However in the tropics the day/night is a 50/50 split, not so here during the summer.
The imbalance between light and dark (longer light then day) stresses the them. So they bolt.

Theory is to sow mid-late August and hope that the light/dark split is acceptable to them.

Personally I cannot be bothered.

No doubt there are other possibilities as well but that is the one I read, made some sense.

I also took some to work and planted them in the poly tunnel there and they seem to be doing fine. Really good size, no signs of bolting or anything. It must be the additional heat in there.
