Awwh bless  I haven't got a gay cockerel but we do have a gay budgie! His cage mate is male and quite happy about the extra attention now and again. Plus he gets a free meal fed to him afterwards by Fred (budgie) so both are happy. I wouldn't worry as long as the bird is healthy and happy.
