Mrs B recons I should get some sugar with pectin?


It shouldn't be necessary as blackcurrants are high in pectin. Jam Sugar (the stuff with the pectin in) is expensive. If you have problems it's cheaper to buy some silver spoon sachets of dried pectin and add along with the ordinary granulated sugar. I'd go for test for pectin first though and if the clot is OK you won't need it.

aww thanks Val, that's very useful info. Me thinks I will be makin' jam this weekend, along with wallpapering my Daughters bedroom, by the look of the weather forecast.
