POO !
« on: July 21, 2009, 18:50 »
Hi,I'm new here but hope someone can help with a problem.
We keep 20 free range chickens, mostly Light Sussex and Columbian Black Tails but we also have 1 buff Orpington with a new chick and 4 wyandotte laced Bantoms.
All are in good health and laying regularly except 2 Columbians and 2 Sussex who are producing yellowy/tan very soft poo. All the others are pooing normally and they all eat exactly the same, mostly layers pellets. Following the breeder's advice, they have all been wormed (no evidence seen) and have had charcoal as well as all areas being disinfected with Biocyst.
If anyone has any ideas or advice I would be very grateful.
Many thanks
Hendrix

Thank you Joyful and Aunt Sally for your fast replies and for the welcome.
The link was very helpful and we identified it as ceacal poo and it is most of  the time. The chooks are kept all together apart from mother & chick and any that are broody.
As I said they are all otherwise healthy and laying.
We're just concerned as they had never shown these symptoms before about 6 weeks ago.
Cheers
Hendrix
