well having looked at the price of these kits on eb*y I have decided to have a go making my own yoghurt again in a flask. Did this before about 20+ years ago and I ended up with a smooth set yoghurt - before you could buy it in the shops - thought it had gone wrong and chucked it
Staffies are softer than you think.

I love looking at gadgets and reading what they will do and how they will make my life better. But then i think of the cleaning and storing of them so i never buy them.  Altho i did buy an ice cream maker a few years ago, not a real posh one, just the sort where you freeze the bowl and its in constant use. :) It makes wonderful ice cream and sorbet but i could just as easily do it by hand i suppose.  Thinking about it, no I dont think I could, the machines is much better than I ever made myself, so it was worth buying

It's going really well thanks, I used a Yeo valley organic as my starter and they are over £2 for 1 litre and I'm using Long Life Organic milk at 82p litre. So after the initial purchase of yoghurt maker I'm saving it's cost back quickly. I seem to remember that after using some of my own yoghurt as a starter several times it was best to buy a new starter.

Have you tried stirring a little icing sugar into a serving of yoghurt for children and then top with sweet fruit like banana, or mix mashed banana through it.

Blackcurrant syrup goes well and will mix into the yoghurt as well.
